2026 Summer Camp - "Summer in the Shadows"

Open to grades 8 - 12

 

Summer in the Shadows is a weeklong camp dedicated to exploring light, shadow, texture, and natural materials. Each day campers will be introduced to new artistic processes, moving from observation and drawing to experimental photography techniques, printmaking, collage, and fiber arts. By the end of the week, students will have a collection of finished artworks and a handmade sketchbook to take home.

ATTENDANCE COST $25*: LIMITED TO 30 PARTICIPANTS

*Cost includes materials and a t-shirt

Monday-Friday* Schedule

Drop off and Pick up
In the circle drive in front of the Lamar Art Building.

Morning: drop-off - 8:45-9:00am
Afternoon: pick-up - from 12:00-12:15pm

Morning Sessions

9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.

Art projects include:

  • Printmaking/Mixed Media (linocut, texture printing, collage with natural elements and weaving)
  • Photography (photograms and cyanotype images)

*An art exhibition and reception will take place Friday, June 26 from 12:00 - 1:00pm at the SOL Gallery in the Department of Art & Design.
