Teaching Interests:

  • Online Teaching, Web-based learning
  • Online lab development
  • Integrating Lab experiences into Theory courses via hardware in homework
  • Study Abroad opportunities

Accomplishments:

  • Secured NSF IUSE funding in the amount of $294,097 as PI to implement active learning strategies in Electrical Engineering online labs.

  • Led the department in creating and offering the first online courses, including 12 online courses and 2 online labs (Circuits Lab and Electronics Lab), a critical step for the success of the Digital eLearning Content Delivery program.

  • Integrated lab experiences into purely theoritical courses through the Hardware-in-Homework (HiH) and Value-Added Engineering Education (VAEE) concepts.

  • Secured an educational grant from Academic Partnerships to support the VAEE/HiH concept in the Electronics II course.

  • Obtained NASA/TSGC New Investigations Program (NIP) research grant titled “Low Power Radiation Tolerant VLSI Design for Advanced Spacecraft” to support radiation-hardened circuit research.

  • Obtained NASA/TSGC Higher Education Program grant and developed an interdisciplinary course titled "Space Radiation Effects & Mitigation" in 2011.

  • Developed and manage the VLSI CAD and Signal Integrity Laboratory to support both research and teaching

  • Created six new graduate courses in VLSI and Signal Integrity that strengthened the doctoral program’s microelectronics specialization.

  • Mentored two undergraduate IEEE student paper competition winners, who won 1st place awards in the 2016 IEEE Region V East Area and the 2017 IEEE Beaumont Section competitions

  • Taught near 15 independent research-oriented study courses and supervised about 35 master's theses and 3 doctoral students.

  • Published over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, many co-authored with undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Served as Associate Editor for the International Journal of Electronics and Corresponding Editor for IEEE Potentials.

  • Currently serve as the Graduate Advisor for our ECE Program
