- Updates from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs Administration (ORSPA):
- Jerry Lin – Associate Provost for Research
-  Dr. Alan Moore’s tenure on the board will be expiring and the group will need to elect a new vice chair. Members should consider whom they would like to nominate for our next meeting.
 
-  Beverly Kemp, eRA Administrator, has separated from Âé¶¹Ó³»Ó°Òô. Her duties concerning IRB administration will be handled by Ryan Lee, Research Compliance Officer.
 
 
-  Ryan Lee – Research Compliance Specialist
-  Âé¶¹Ó³»Ó°Òô IRB policy proposals - these are areas of ambiguity in existing policy that this committee should consider strengthening to maintain compliance.
-  Site Permission Letters
- Explicit policies on how, when, and from whom Site Permission Letters must be obtained by investigators.
   
 
-  Minor Assent
- Establishing clear guidelines for using minors in human subjects research, including breaking down policies by age group and providing examples and templates for researchers.
 
 
-  Researchers using their own students as subjects
- Researchers often use their own students as human subjects in their studies, but rules concerning this have not been previously outlined.
 
 
-  IRB Reliance and Cooperative Agreements
- Cooperative agreements to rely on another organization's IRB have been increasing; this committee should consider policies to regulate how these agreements are carried out and create standard templates.
 
 
 
 
 
- Full Board Review of IRB Application:
-  IRB-FY24-5: A Qualitative Examination of Sex Offenders and the Registry in Texas by Vidisha Worley
-  Investigators have provided responses to the Board’s questions in Cayuse as well as a document justifying the human subject questions on the survey of their proposed study.
 
- This committee found that the clarifications provided by the investigators did not properly address the questions laid out during the last review.  
  
-  Motion to reject this IRB submission by Dr. Shannon Jordan at 1:42pm
 
-  Seconded by Dr. Alan Moore at 1:42 pm
 
-  Motion passes by a vote of 8-0
 
 
 
 
- Updates from the Chair
- Dr. Alan Moore has enjoyed his time serving as IRB Chair and would like to make himself available as a content expert for the committee when applicable.
