The Center for Death Penalty Studies, in collaboration with the Center for Resiliency at Âé¶¹Ó³»­Ó°Òô hosts the 4th International Conference: 

Justice, Resilience & the Rule of Law on April 21, 2026. We welcome submissions addressing artificial intelligence and emerging technologies as well. The Research Awards will be presented to selected outstanding scholars and graduate students. Abstract submission deadline: March 21, 2026.

 The conference connects Southeast Texas experiences with national and international research on justice systems, resilience, trauma recovery, reintegration, and the rule of law. The program brings together scholars, practitioners, judges, law enforcement professionals, attorneys, and advanced graduate students to advance publishable, research-based scholarship.

Topics of Interest Include (but are not limited to):

  • Community and family resilience after incarceration or executions
  • Reentry, reintegration, and social recovery
  • Victims’ families, trauma, and long-term healing
  • Mental health, housing, employment, and social exclusion
  • Judicial and legal decision-making and resilience-oriented practices
  • Law enforcement and community-based resilience strategies
  • Comparative, national, and international justice reforms
  • Law, policy, and the rule of law in rebuilding trust and stability

Interdisciplinary and applied research is strongly encouraged
