MBA-Management Information Systems Overview

The dual degree in Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Management Information Systems at Âé¶¹Ó³»­Ó°Òô allows you tosimultaneously complete the requirements for both programs. This 48-hour program equips you with the skills necessary to use information technology to enhance business decision making. 

Admission to this program requires the following: you must satisfy requirements for application to both the MBA and M.S. programs individually (including GRE/GMAT requirements), you must apply to and be accepted by both departments (you can apply and be admitted to either degree and then request to be added to the second degree provided you meet all admission requirements for the second degree) and you must meet the graduation requirement of each program individually (including minimum GPA averages and time limit policies).

MBA-Management Information Systems Courses You May Take

Managerial Accounting: Application of accounting data in decision making: cost analysis as applied in the development of budgets and standards; accounting as a tool for cost control and pricing; case problems, using the micro-computer as a decision-making tool, which require students to interpret and discuss their analysis in the context of managerial decision-making.

Managerial Economics: A study in the depth of the principles and techniques of economic analysis applicable to the problems of business management.

Financial Management: A study of the financial policy of business firms along with the theory supporting that policy. Topics include capital budgeting, capital structure, cost of capital, dividend policy, and management of working capital, as well as the unique international dimensions of the financial policy of multinational firms.

Database Management Systems: This course covers design, implementation and management of database systems. Students will learn: 1. Database design concepts 2. The physical implementation of a database design with software such as MS Access, Oracle and Structured Query Language (SQL) 3. DBMS functions, database administration and database management approaches.

Information Technology Project Management: The student who successfully completes this course should understand the genesis of project management and its importance to improving the success of information technology projects. Students must demonstrate knowledge of project management terms and techniques such as: the triple constraint of project management, project management knowledge areas and process groups, project life cycle, tools and techniques of project management (for example: project selection methods, work breakdown structures, network diagrams and critical path analysis, cost estimates and earned value analysis). Students would learn to use the current version of Primavera P6 Professional Project Management software to help plan and manage an IT project.
